Becoming green

This year, DLETNS has begun work to become a ‘Green School.’ Green-Schools is Ireland͛’s leading environmental management and award programme, working with primary and secondary schools across the country. Promoting long-term, whole-school action for the environment, Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider school community. The programme is operated and coordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce (FEE member for Ireland). Click on this click for more information:: https://greenschoolsireland.org/

DLETNS is currently focusing on our first theme `Litter and Waste`until the end of the academic year 2020-2021. We look forward to earning our School`s first Green Flag Award for all our wonderful GREEN efforts!
The theme Litter and Waste examines the impact of litter and waste on the environment and we will explore practical means for reducing and minimising the amount of litter and waste produced by the school.
DLETNS Green Initiatives so far 2019/2020:

  • Junk Kouture Climate Action Strike (see ‘our news’ section of the website)
  •  Single-Use PLASTIC FREE Lunch Box Week
  •  Plus lots of work in our classrooms exploring and learning about waste, and litter and coming up with strategies and ideas of what we can do.
